My friends pc got peed by his cat because he forgot to close the side panel. but when i turn the pc on, fans are spinning but no video output at all and the fans sound weird. usually when i click the power button the cpu and gpu fan gonna sound vroom and slowing down after few second the system post. but this one doesnt, i cant hear the vroom, so i decided to clean everything also clear the bios but that doesnt work at all.

Im thinking to test the gpu on to my system to make sure if its working or not. is this a bad idea, if the card fail will it damage my system too?

by the way just some tips if u have cat close the side panel and put a hooge cpu cooler so the cat cant sit and ended up peed on your gpu.

Chances of that happening are low, but it can definitely happen if the GPU is shorted (especially if the short is near the power delivery).

When the mobo gets friend it is also quite possible to take out the CPU with it along the way.

It can also potentially kill your PSU.

That being said, I've tested many suspicious GPUs in the past by placing them in a known good system.
But those known good systems were always dirt cheap office desktops that you can find for 50$ 2nd hand, so if the unlikely does happen it is not that big of deal.

Also, visually inspect the card before doing any tests in another system, if you find burn marks - don't even try testing it.

Cleaning it might not make a difference now.

If something failed it failed and might have to be replaced.

If you know what failed, it's a liquid so it will act like any liquid, but that sort of liquid can be harder to deal with cleaning too.

if you have animals, don't have a open system, or more closed up.

Testing some of these components can be harmless, motherboard and PSU is likely worse to test with if there can be a failure with them. Not fully sure, worst case for other components might be doing extra damage to the failed part. Not too sure.
