Garuda vs Solus?

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

Garuda is a bloated mess run by people who have no idea what they are doing. They pretty much just search the Wiki and AUR for anything with the word "Gaming" or "Performance" and just throw it on the system, even if it doesn't make sense or it conflicts with something else. I personally don't recommend it.

You could achieve a similar setup that makes more sense with Manjaro, the Chaotic-AUR, and TKG's BMQ Kernel, Wine, Proton, and Mesa Builds (All of which are pre-compiled in the Chaotic-AUR).

I am not familiar with Solus to really comment, but I am sure it's better than whatever Garuda is doing.

I am wanting to know how it is the same & different? I asked on their forum a few days back, nothing yet. I like that it has timeshift & they focused on ease of use. I would like Mate, but no Mate version.  Plus the software is mot that much in number in the Solus Software Centre.

Solus would be my preference here since they took steam seriously enough to create the steam runtime environment that all the Garuda team setup.

That said I have no doubts that Solus would probably feel more polished out of the box as it was really the first linux distro that actually made me feel like I didn't have to use a terminal if I didn't want to.
