Looking for a psu

Go to solution Solved by Traxas,

I personally have good experiences with the Corsair RM...x line: 80+ gold, fully modular, 0DB fan mode, Japanese caps ...

A great alternative are Seasonic psu's, still probably the best PSU brand out there (don't own one myself, but I've read a lot about them and it's probably my choice for future upgrades). The Focus 750 PX has everything you could want, including 80 plus platinum rating.

requirements

must not blow up (NO EBAY/NO NAME PSU'S i like my house)

must have at least 80 plus gold

must be 750-850 watt

must have a 0DB fan mode

no thermal tech PSU's last one had caps that exploded. that's why i am looking for one right now

any recommendations welcome

Any meaningful recommendation would depend on what you're powering and where you're buying from.

Having a semi passive mode does not mean that the PSU will be quiet. E.g. the EVGA G3 1000W supposedly has one, but it starts spinning its fan at 1760 RPM at 80W load. If want a quiet PSU, then get a quiet PSU.

:)

no offence but i have never heard of that psu manufacture

Enermax is very well known, and the Revolution DF is well regarded. 80+ Gold, 650-850W, affordable, and A Tier. Highly recommended.

Yet none of their units are the best for their price range? Seasonic is so highly overrated it's kind of ridiculous.

BUT with a Seasonic PSU you know you are getting a high quality PSS that wont blow up

Like you do with the majority of PSU brands that are present nowadays? Also, it's not as if Seasonic doesn't have bad PSUs. On the contrary, anything of theirs (sold today) that isn't Focus or Prime is quite shitty.

You also know that you'll get a PSU from a smaller OEM that outsources a lot, uses crappy fans, cheaps out on the protections, presents the PSU outputs in a really shady way, and has issues with transients from higher end GPUs 🙂
