need help choosing

i wanted to upgrade my old hdd to an m.2ssd.

which would you guys suggest im currently looking at wd black sn750 1tb and the samsung 970 evo plus 1tb

also another question does ssd improve fps at all i  mostly play warzone.

 

is it even worth it to spend extra money for m.2 just for games or would a normal ssd would do

Id probably get a cheaper m.2 like a sn550 as there will be very little performance differences for most uses.

Both are amazing beauties at gen 3 speed, so pick which one is cheaper in my opinion, and keep an eye to see if you can get up to their gen 4 updated version at the same capacity (SN850 and 980 Pro) for minuscule price bump (10$ max for me)

Not at all. Itll improve loading times (albeit zero to none compared to basic SATA HDD), but really except in edge cases (i got less pop in issues in Control with me putting the game on an SSD), it wont improve your FPS at all.

I'd suggest putting games on a cheaper HDD and use the SSD as a boot drive.

 

And no. An SSD is just a faster file access. Unless the game is loading resources from disk during each frame render event, it will not be much faster FPS-wise.

For example, I believe Minecraft loads chunks during render, so chunk loading would be faster there, but not FPS.

 

Boot times if you use it as a boot disk will improve for sure.
