is an i5-5257U okay for a Minecraft server?

hi. i just want to know if the i5 5257U can run a Minecraft server with about 10 people in it with minumum lag?

it's the Chuwi Corebox Mini PC... it has 8gb single channel ram, not upgradable, and 256gb ssd storage.

the server is only meant to be used by me and a dozen of my friends.

Thanks in advance.

What Operating System are you going to use?

A friend of mine hosted  minecraft server for 5 people on a 3317U with 8GB of RAM and that ran fine.

The 5257U is a good bit more powerful so it'll probably handle close to 10 with occasional lag/stutter.

8GB of RAM means not that many mods though, vanilla should be fine.

Also factor in that you need a stable and decent upload speed on your internet connection. 30Mbps or more should be ideal.

Windows 10 since that's what the mini pc comes with.

Should be ok for hosting a server. You COULD notice some lag if all players are online at the same time doing random stuff. Probably wont be enough for all 10 players to load different chunks at the same time, but i doubt it will be any problem if you all stay in the same general area. It wont be the best gameplay experience, but it will be very much doable.. Id say its a bit hit or miss based on what you plan to do on the server.

The ram shouldnt be any kind of bottleneck either since a vanilla server with ~10 players would consume maybe around 2-3GB. Tho a little extra like 6GB allocated wouldnt hurt anyone.

I ran a server with a 2200G with around 5-6 players and while it ran AMAZING, we did experience a bit of lag/freezing for maybe 1-2 sec while loading into the nether or overworld...

it should be able to handle it good.....if you can disable power throttling you can be more assured of the performance....you can disable power throttling using throttle stop

It should run perfectly then.. maybe few lags here and there but will be much better than free server hosting sides XD.
