Hey guys this is my first time posting to the ltt forums, I'm hoping if anyone can help. The problem is my asus rog strix scar II will dump its charge after being off for a few hours (The percentage of battery displayed doesn't matter) and then it shuts down. Here's recording of what it does . I got the laptop in august 2019, I've tried getting it sorted with asus, but they only replaced the battery (which I suspected wasn't the issue) and the same issues still persists, I'm currently trying to sort it out with asus but they're being a massive pain in the arse about it.

P.s. I have a theory that the battery drain could be due to a faulty LED diode on the ROG eye on the back of the screen, but I have yet to test it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

That's odd behavior.

How are you shutting the computer down when not using it?

If you're using the windows shutdown, that's not a real shutdown anymore on windows 10.

That actually saves the power state to memory for faster startup.

To get a full shutdown you would have to hold shift + shutdown.

That still doesn't fully explain the battery dying so fast though.

Do you have USB devices plugged in that could be draining the battery?

PSU Tier List   AMD Mobo Tier List   SSD Tier List

If your issue is resolved, please share the fix with the community.

Yeah I just can't wrap my head around it and neither can the techs at ASUS (On account that they misdiagnosed it) 😕

When I shut it down I have been using windows shutdown, but I will try shift + shutdown.

The only thing that I leave plugged in even when it's shut down is the USB bluetooth for my mouse but that shouldn't affect it, other than that I unplug anything connected before I turn off the laptop.  Thanks mate
