Changing cooler

DewisLavid

Hi I’m currently using the stock ryzen 5 3600 cooler but want to upgrade as the temps aren’t great so looking to go with the noctua nh-d15 (which is down to £98 on Amazon) but I was wondering if I could replace the cooler in the case or if I would have to take everything out to change the cooler?

depends on the case.  If you have a fully accessible rear motherboard try opening?  You don't need to take it apart.

If you don't?  Good luck!

Ah ok I’ll try adding another case fan first to see if that will do anything before I do it, temps aren’t horrible normally but have seen the temps reach the high 80’s under load sometimes

I didn't use my stock cooler for my 3600, so I don't know it it used the black plastic brackets; if it does (which I'm sure it does), they'll need to come off & the Noctua version attached, instead.

Ideally you'll need to make sure the back plate doesn't fall off, so both case panels will need to come off.

I frequently edit any posts you may quote; please check for anything I 'may' have added.

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!
