unRAID

So I recently bought a HP Proliant DL 380 G4, and 2 Seagate BarraCuda HDDs.

I want to run unRAID on the server. The BIOS picks up both of the drives, but the unRAID web interface says there is only 1 1TB drive in the system. I have tried using 2 RAID controllers with 1 drive on each and the BIOS picks both of them up but UNRAID doesn't. Is there a way to fix this issue in unRAID or should I change my expectations and use SMB on Linux (or equivalent).

Thank you so much for any insight you may have!

Sounds like you need to wipe (and "clean") both.  They "know" they belong together.

It must be true, I read it on the internet...

Make sure the drives aren't in RAID, they're probably configured as a mirror.

Also make sure the controller is in HBA / IT Mode / Passthrough mode. If its an old controller it may not do this, so you may need to make each disk its own 1 Disk Raid.

Once that's done you should then have 2 disks available in UnRAID.

UnRAID has a 'Pre Clear' plugin you can add for erasing the drives and prepping them to be added to the UnRAID array.

There should be a raid bios that lets you change raid settings?

ALso you really don't want to use those new seagate barracudas in raid as there smr, and will be very slow.

HP Proliant DL 380 G4,

That system is really old, Id try to get something newer, it will pay for its self in the power savings alone. And its not very fast either, Like a first gen i3 is likely faster or simmilar in speeds.
