Connecting case fans

My setup is a mess honestly, in terms of the GPU, i have the asus pheonix 2060 which has 1 fan and it hits max temps (83-85) a lot and i thought these new fans would help. I didnt see a significant difference tbh. this is how it looks currently, stock cpu fan but im having a hard time finding a cooler that will fit, thats a whole different story though

1239320868_casesetup.png

Move bottom fan closer to front, right now it hardly has any air to move (PSU is literally under it, blocking air). Also move top exhaust closer to rear. CPU fan is downdraft, and currently that top fan is situated so that it is taking incoming air directly from top-most front fan. Air from CPU cooler is blocked by RAM.

I need help with setting up case fans, the case comes with 4 fans (3 front intake 1 back exhaust). i wanted to install additional intake fans at the top and 1 or 2 exhaust fans under the gpu. Now i bought a 3 set 120mm fans that are the same brand as the case with a RGB hub. There are 2 "problems", im not sure how to connect everything together so the colours are the same (or even if i can) the fans i bought have 6 pin connecters to the hub, the hub allows 6 pin cables (from the fans) to be connected and I'm not sure what the other connections are for (3 pin ARGB connector, and another tiny 3 pin that says "third party RGB". The case fans have the 4 pin connectors that i think are connected to a hub inside the front of the case? im not sure. The other problem is the screws for the fans are supposed to be for the sides and not inside the case, they are too big to fit the holes in the metal under the gpu. Also im not sure where to connect the 3 pin ARG from the hub to the mobo.

fans I bought: https://aerocool.io/product/duo-12-pro/

First and foremost you will want to set the bottom fans as intake and the top fans out exhaust, otherwise the GPU will need to fight the bottom fans for air.
The location of the 3pin ARGB header on your motherboard will be noted in the manual this is where you will want to connect the ARGB cable from the hub, unless the existing fans are ARGB and connected to a controller built into the case. In that situation you want to connect the ARGB cable from the hub to the case.
The bottom fans attach with long skinny fans that go through the fan from the top, they should be in the bag of included screws.

Thanks for the reply, but that is not the case, all the screws are short screws and from looking at the current screws that I have in the mobo you are supposed to kind of screw it into the plastic and like carve the screw into the plasitc, as the screws are bigger than the whole. Second, I did some looking around in my case in this is what I understood. The fans are controlled by LED button on the case which is connected to the motherboard, then the fans are connected directly to the PSU. It seems I have two options, get another splitter from the PSU for the new fans, OR somehow connect the current 4 pin case fans to the hub that only allows 6 pins. FYI, this PC is prebuilt so I didn't build it myself and don't know all the ins and outs. I could send u a picture of all the connections on the hub maybe?

Im not sure how many fan splitters I can connect to the PSU, so i either have to use a 5+? fan splitter or 2 fan splitters with 4 fans on each. It doesn't say much about how many you can connect on the website and i cant see for myself cause a metal bracket is covering the connections.

Fan screws are supposed to dig into the fan frame since they are not pre-threaded.

You can hook the hub up to the motherboard directly if you wanna use the software ARGB control rather than the led button. If you only have one Motherboard ARGB header you can use a splitter.

The four pin fans can connect to the motherboard. If you connect them to the PSU without a hub or controller they will run at 100% all the time.

You have bit of problem with the fans here. Seems like Shard doesn't have any way to connect to any other RGB controlling scheme. You have buttons and thats it. Your kit of fans is also nope on connecting to anything. I mean, you can add other RGB things to it as long as they use standard connectors. But you can't connect it to mobo for syncing. So you connect that hub to PSU with SATA cable and sync those three fans to themselves.

Fan screws are tapping kind. You screw them from outside the case, through metal mounting holes and into fan. As for your setup, Generally you want front/bottom intake and rear/top exhaust. For alternative layouts, please list your CPU cooler and what exact GPU you are gonna use. Most GPUs intake from bottom, but you could benefit from top intake for better CPU cooling.

thanks for all the help, i just connected the hub to the motherboard then controlled the new fans separately, i didnt understand completely how would i go about to make the new fans be controlled by the led button on the case or all the fans by the hub (the latter being probably not possible because i cant connect the old 4 pin fans to the hub which has 6 pin connections).

Which one is the ARGB header in the mobo? is it the one with 2 pins or the two separate 1 pins?

i can move the bottom fan but the top fan i cant because there is a wire that we be just below it and if i force it there it would be pushing down on the wire and i dont want risk damaging it or something happening. older photo here.1039045390_casesetup2.thumb.png.8f13d33316c36582a6d2084495983469.png

In that case, and if you are good with CPU temps, its fine. For now. Think about that when you do bigger upgrades next time or otherwise could think of removing mobo. There's enough slack to tighten that CPU power cable just fine.

i might remove the mobo and reroute the wire from the right? to fix the issue, i have a 3rd fan im not using because of this. what do you think about getting a better/bigger case for now and future builds. Something like the corsair 4000D airflow?

Well, it has much more intake at front. That will help with GPU. With CPU, getting aftermarket cooler is biggest thing, I'm now just giving common things on how airflow works. As air is only moved by fans, if you have two fans right next to each other, one intaking and the other exhausting, the air won't go past the one exhausting.

Okay thanks for all the help, ill see what ill do. As I said my options are limited in terms of cpu coolers cause of the space i have (155mm height of fan, but roughly 100-110mm length/width wise).

Socket designs are standard. So unless you have ITX board, you only need to worry about height and with taller coolers RAM.

I'm not sure i understand you correctly. I meant my case is small and the top of the case is close to the cpu as well as the exhaust fan is close to the cpu. So something like this woud fit height wise but might be too big width wise and hit the top fan/case https://www.bequiet.com/en/cpucooler/1842. Height limit is 155 in this case.

Most PC hardware sold as parts are ATX standard. This means that they will fit things without there being need for checking all of the dimensions. Only ITX standard has limitations around CPU socket that means some coolers don't fit. But for rear exhaust, you don't need to worry about such.

Ah alright so since my mobo is mATX i shouldnt worry about it and only worry about height correct?

Yeah. Sometimes RAM can be issue too, but you can google images of the cooler to see how it situates with RAM. You are all good with this, Pure Rock 2 clears all slots.
