What PSU should i pick

Go to solution Solved by atrash,

What about AX860 and AX860i, is AX860i worth it or not?

thoughts?

No it is not worth the extra. The only difference is the Corsair link capability which is pretty much useless to everyday user. Unless you like to brag about your psu having digital monitoring option, save your money and get the non-i instead.

Hello guys i have upgrading my PC, i'm tired of my standard psu and i wanna upgrade to a fully modular PSU.

I'm currently using this setup:

NZXT Phantom big tower

Asus sabertooth P77

Intel i7 3770k (Non-clocked)

16GB 1600MHZ Ram

asus 290 OC 1050MHZ

1x SSD

1x HDD

2x 200MM Fan

2x 140MM Fan

2x 120MM Fan

1M Red led light thingy for NZXT

What i am going to get later (within the summer i hope)

290SLI  :)

Custom water cooling :)

Remove the 1x HDD and get a second SSD :)

Over clock my 3770k :)

So this is my question what power-supply should i get?

And how big should i get? i have tried several "PSU Calculators" online but they are so different i get all form 800W-1200W

I am currently running a 700W from cooler master standard

Is the AX 860 enough for my setup?

or should i go for the RM 1000?

AX1200i is to expensive in my opinion.

Thoughts?

Hei thx for answer, but what is the reason i should go for ax860 and not rm1000?

Just because 1000W is kinda overkill or do you got any other reason?

1. 1000w is totally overkill

2. I see the AX being slightly cheaper than the RM on newegg.

3. RM series is not really a top tier psu. They work great, but they are not of the best quality. OEM Seasonic (AX) vs CWT (RM)

4. AX is platinum rated, much higher efficiency than the RM gold rated.

5. Longer warranty

I like being the asshole who points out the RM750 and higher are made by Chicony. CWT makes the lower Wattage RM Series.

Nope. The 1000w unit is CWT unit. Only the 750w & 850w are made by Chicony.

I was under the impression the 1000W was also Chicony -although I've never seen it explicitly stated that it was. That's very odd that the 750W and 850W only are made by Chicony. If CWT can make a satisfactory 1000W then why not the whole series? Surely CWT has the facilities to produce all of them...
