Hey,

Hopefully this the right place to post, Been after a test bench for ages but none are ideal, They are either too big or just too expensive for what they are.

I already have some white board & Tube so thought about making my own.

This is what I've come up with so far, The bars wont be going all the way through the board to act as feet, I will be adding feet separately ,Probably just stick on ones to be honest.

The angle thing on the end of the board i thought would be good to house Power/Hard Drive activity & Power button of some sort although unsure of that plan yet.

Of course would need to drill and put in Brass motherboard stand offs on top of the board, But couldn't see a way in the software to add marks that would represent those lol.

Wondering what changes/What you guys would add or change?

Please note - My first go at 3D modelling ,So nothings to scale and probably laughable to any pros in here lol, Just wanted to get some vision what it would look like.

Then for some stability of the PCI/AGP/PCI-E cards purchased one of these.

I'm just concerned how I'm going to mount the brass standoffs to the wood board to place the motherboard on?, I believe its MDF..I don't think drilling a smaller hole then screwing the stand off in will be strong enough?

Honestly you're reinventing the wheel here.

Have you watched the Gamers Nexus video(s?) about test benches?  They don't have to be expensive.

Your idea isn't bad, but you're going to spend a /lot/ of time working on this, and in the end, you'll end up spending a lot more than you think you will on this.

Unsure why you think il spend a lot of time on this, I already have the board & tubes (Free) so its a matter of just cut them to size.

Motherboard Stand offs are like £3,Sticky adhesive feet are £1..the most expense is that Rear O/I bracket which was £11

Then the brackets to hold the tubes are £3 pack, which i get 4 in each, I need 8 so £6 total.

Screws i already have (Free)

So all in all, The whole bench will cost me £21

I've watched many vids don't like the whole (take an old case and cut it up) approach it looks super bad imo lol.

Although i appreciate your feedback,im after ideas to improve upon the design.

Highly recommend taking an old case and cutting the motherboard tray out of it and attaching it on to your test bed. Putting brass standoff into wood will not last if you are constantly removing and reinstalling boards. Also takes away the need to measure the holes needed for your standoffs. If you dont have a case its very likely you can get one on the used market in your area for like 20 bucks, might even be able to scavenge the PCIE bracket at the same  time
