Hiya, just been building a computer for my girlfriend. A 3060ti palit dual isn't being recognised within device manager or Nvidea DRIVER installer. From what I can tell the gpu just doesn't exist. I've try to run it in my rig and no success either. The lights turn on when powered on but.

So far I have tried

1. Changing the system from hers to Mine

2. Clear cmos on mine and from a cold start.

3. Trying different 8 pin connects and ports on the psu

4. Ensuring all Windows updates are done.

5. Checking in device manager for unknown device or devices with an error and nothing.

6. Uninstalling all previous gpu drivers and fresh install.

7. Different cables display port and HDMI

8. Different screens

On my system it goes through the cpu dram check once it gets to vga it stops at 02 and a little green/yellow light comes on for boot.

Really running out of ideas on what to do any help would be appreciated.

Her current rig will be upgraded in future my due to bottlenecks.

Her system

MSI mpwer z97

I5 4670k stock

16gb drr3 ram 1600mhz

H100i platinum

Corsair cx 750

Gtx 1070 previously no issue

Are the right power leads connected to the 3060...?

Is the card getting seen in the BIOS?

EDIT 1:

Craziest option; are you connecting the monitor to the 3060 & not the motherboard?

EDIT 2:

Does the iGPU on the 4670K work, with the Z97 video output?

Can I realistically call myself a gamer, if I only play ONE, twenty year old game...?

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!

On that system, set the PCI-E Slot 1 to Auto (in the BIOS) for Gen detect - it may be set to the wrong Gen by default.

Z97 'board may detect the dGPU & auto-disable the iGPU, by default; always worth disabling in the BIOS & making PEG1 default VGA on boot.

Tried disabling the IGPU in bios and straight up didt get a signal cleared cmos now and ensured PEG1 is default VGA on boot

Do you still have the 1070...?  Does that still work in the Z97 machine?

What response does 'your' system have, to the 3060?

I do the 1070 works just fine in both computers. And I get a very similar response to the Z97 system I've put both the 1070 and 3060 in mine now as no iGPU. Ensured the pcie bandwith is x8

AHH... you're running BOTH the 1070 and the 3060ti, together?

Dunno why, but I thought you'd "replaced" the 1070 with the 3060ti...

That's the plan ultimately to end up in the Z97 build I've moved it back to the dark hero viii x570 as nicer bios and easier to work with I find toke the rtx 3080 out as was just getting in the way of easily swapping between systems. I don't want it to be the case but what do you reckon the Gpu is DOA (dead on arrival) but somehow the fans work from the pcie power

I'd have tried the 3060 as the primary & the 1070 as the supplementary... or at least the 3060 'solo' to confirm that card isn't a dud.

Attempted the 3060 by itself an no post simply stuck at the vga white light and green light with code 02. As I've said that turned him on and off again and getting the postcode AA with only the vga light. The 02 code seems to like it could be a variety of option s from dodgy cables to simple things as no cpu fan
