PC wont turn on. EZ Debug LEDs CPU and DRAM flashing

lilKuri

Hi! Tried turning my PC on today but wouldnt power on. Lights turn on and fans start spinning but nothing happens.

My motherboard is flashing CPU and DRAM.

I have tried:

Reseating both sticks of RAM

Using only one stick of RAM

Reseating the GPU

Removing the GPU

Removing and replacing the CMOS battery

Could it be a motherboard/cpu problem? I hope not because I literally have no money and will not have money for the next few months.

CPU: i7 10700k

GPU: GTX 1070

RAM: HyperX Fury 16x2

MOBO: MSI MPG Z490

Misery!

Could be any or all of the above.

Do you have another system to test / swap out components?

Ram, PSU and GPU are usually the easiest.

Have you tried doing a bench build? It wouldn't be the first time a wayward screw stuck behind the mobo in the case has caused me a headache.

If the the Mobo has a the facility to flash the BIOS without the CPU, that might narrow the possibilities further. I would imagine if a successful BIOS update without the CPU installed would mean the Mobo might be ok.

Unfortunately I don't have spare parts.

I'll try doing a bench build later, once I calm down LOL.

Thank you for the reply!

Hi! Just wanted to update. I fixed it by replacing the CMOS battery. Not sure why that fixed it since I already removed and replaced the battery.

Great work. TBH, I wouldn't have spotted that. Probably replaced the mobo and wasted £150. Well done.
