Does it matter which slot I put my GPU in?

I have an ASUS ROG STRIX B550-A motherboard. I want to put my GPU (GTX 1060) in the bottom PCI-E slot but does that affect performance at all?

You want to put it in an X16 slot to get maximum performance.

Thanks.

For AMD system, you would want to attach your graphic card to the nearest PCIe X16 slot to the processor. This is because that PCIe slot connected to the processor directly reduce latency by a little.
