Hi,

About a year and a bit ago I started really focusing on improving my skills in 3D and 2D art (concept art, environments, plants and some characters). This has resulted in me finally opening again for commission work 7 months ago as I was looking for a job and having a rapid grow 5months ago that still continues on today. I've gotten a regular job 3 months ago just for money safety reasons but still do commission work daily. I always kept a 4% of the money I make I put towards saving for a new system fund and this has well gotten rather huge.

I already made a topic a couple days ago about a AIO gpu as my current vega 56 is in fact at the end of it's life and I do notice that extra perfromance is more than welcome. Currently my main slow down point is if I have to do renders that I cannot do overnight for this purpose I bought a beat up used 4600h rtx2060 laptop I put in my secondary toilet that I don't use as my apartment is one big room with a loft and otherwise noise would be too loud. It works nicely and is noticeably faster for rendering when the rt cores are used. However I'd like to still have a desktop that can do this all for me instead of having to open the file on my laptop and then let that render for a bit or temporarily use it for heavy viewport lighting corrections and so on.

So my thought was to first get a 3080 with an AIO or due to the helpful people in the other chat get a 3080 that supports an aio and put it on there myself. But since I noticed my budget is so high I could probably just get a new system. That and this budget grows every week + I save a lot of money every month as I live quite frugal and it would not be a financial burden on me to spend any of it.

So my question is to anyone willing to read what would you recommend? I'll list my current specs as a frame of reference

Desktop:

Ryzen 2700

Sycthe ninja 5

32gb 3600mhz corsair ram (I was wanting to upgrade this too as I do hit a cap here when working on big big projects which are starting to happen more)

850w antec high current gamer psu

Msi mortar max board

Vega 56 with alphacool eiswolf AIO with upgraded 240mm rad

Fractal meshify C mini case

A couple nvme drives

1tb samsung 860 qvo as image of the boot and program drive

1 2tb hdd as long storage

1 8tb hdd as backup

Laptop: (beat up lenovo works fine just looks like it's seen hell and back)

4600h

16gb ram

500gb sn750

rtx 2060

My gpu is constantly at max or near max when working but my cpu does keep up. Photoshop would more love single core performance a lot too as that is something I do sometimes run into but I can work around that as I've done for years. I don't often render on my cpu as my vega is usually faster but there are cases where my cpu is the only option and those do kinda suck as it does take a while.

I'm actually quite happy with my current setup just know my vega will fail sooner rather than later and since I need to get a new gpu anyway + want more ram I thought why not maybe consider a new system. I am well aware of the current climate we are in and that it will not get better anytime soon. I am totally fine paying a premium as this is a working tool not a entertainment device.

Also I'd like to add that if I wasn't quite clear (sorry for that) silence is SUPER important as I have no separte rooms (part from bathroom, toilet and a very very small hallway/entryway) in my apartment just a secondary floor where I sleep and my bathroom is. All I have is a 1x1m hallway and a additional toilet that is in there as additional rooms part from the bathroom. I put my laptop in that toilet as I do not use it, there is ventilation and a power plug.

Thank you for any help already and I hope I explained everything as well and clear as I could.

Hybrid gpu is not necessarily quieter than fan cooled models.

They are when your goal is 25db or under. Sure it will run hotter at such low fan speeds but my friends reference 3080 just cannot go lower than 36db even when allowing it to get hotter and that is just not acceptable for me.

I'm also aiming for a new computer here instead of a upgrade as this system will be repurposed in it's current state minus most likely the vega when it dies.

Reference coolers tend to be much noisier than the non reference coolers of better gpu. The Asus RTX 3080 TUF OC and Evga RTX 3080 FTW3 run about 31 db in gaming, out of the box.

If you want to replace the Ninja cpu cooler, consider the NH-U12A.

The RMX850 is a very quiet psu. Most quality models are as they ramp fan speed as load demands.

The Meshify 2 case is a good choice.
