As Linus and Nvidia have stated, the 3080 is the the top-of-the-line card, and the 3090 is just extra because Nvidia can do it. It's over twice the price for only a 20% increase in power. It's cool, but not really worth the extra. However, it does bode very well, I think, for what could come in the next generation of cards if performance gains are anything close to what they were this generation (probably won't be that close because they might use the same architecture, but still...).

In gaming the 3090 is anywhere from 5-10% faster. So it depends on how much more you would be paying.

 

(Also just saying, there is a "Graphics Cards" subforum. But the mods will probably move the thread there as soon as they see it.)

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
