Budget (including currency): ~$650 USD

Country: Switzerland (although prices are very similar to US)

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly going to be used for video editing, 3D rendering & programming (a lot of Python data science type stuff), as well as everyday use.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

This is my first proper PC build (I've done a couple before, but never from scratch and without help). I already have peripherals, hard drives and graphics card (Asus GeForce GTX 960) to transfer from my current PC.

My current machine has a Ryzen 3 2200G, with 8GB RAM, and it can barely cope with the work I'm trying to do, and is actually a bit slow in regular day-to-day use (becomes laggy if I have more than 5 tabs open in my browser).

This is what I currently have planned, is there anything that I've completely missed the mark on, or improvements I can make without increasing my cost too much?

Any help would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have changed my M.2 to the one you suggested. Unfortunately, the case and PSU you suggested are actually more expensive in Switzerland than the ones I had on my list.

You suggested I switch to the i5 over the Ryzen 5 3600, but that actually ends up being more expensive if I include the mother board you suggested. Realistically what is the performance difference between the two going to be?

Is there anything specifically wrong with what I had?

The i5 and its motherboard come to $330 in switzerland, compared to $299 for the Ryzen and its motherboard. It's not a big difference, but is the performance increase worth while?

Yes, I would say that is worth it.
