Old photos deleted because of iCloud

So my old iPhone SE broke so I upgraded to an iPhone 7. I couldn't keep my old photos from the SE because I didn't pay for enough storage for a backup.

I just fixed my iPhone SE and was happy to see all of my photos on it. I then went out for a meal, leaving the phone at home to charge.

I arrived back at home and went back to the SE and was shocked to see that all of my old photos have disappeared and have been replaced by the photos from my iPhone 7 as the SE connected to my Wi-Fi and synched them up.

 

Is there anything I can do? Or are my old photos just gone, they're not in recently deleted and I don't really know what to do

Another reason I hate Apple and their shenanigans.

 

How broke is the phone? Can it be connected to USB for media transfer via iTunes?

The phone is fixed now, it fully works but all of the old photos have been replaced with the photos from my iPhone 7 as they automatically synched

Nowhere to be seen, you'd think that they would sync by putting both camera rolls together, instead of replacing both camera rolls with the most recent one

Do you have a 3rd party app, like GDrive, OneDrive, etc.

Have you sent them? If so, download them. But other than that, they're most likely gone.

Maybe contact apple for a zip archive if they still have it?
