I’m not sure what power supply I shout get for these parts, I’m hoping to get a 80+ platinum or titanium rated psu. I have no budget, I just want something reliable

platinum or titanium rated PSUs are not exactly cheap nor does it mean they will be reliable, although likely to have some better components inside.

The PSU thread or tier list will help you out in that regard.

Since you are going with 3070 and 5900, I think that maybe around 600-750w should be decent and gold rank is often found, but if you are doing an ITX build are you going with normal ATX or SFX powersupply?? SFX is smaller but most of the time more expensive. You would not need 1000w platinum or so PSU.

Unless that is what you want or thinking about using it else where or for more components?

I have a very similar build and I went with an EVGA supernova 80 plus gold. It was a bit expensive but I have always had really good experiences with the brand and at 850 watts it will hover in the prime efficiency range for the PSU under load. So something similar would be my suggestion.

Anything Gold Rated at 750W should be fine, i'd always recommended you buy a decent one e.g Corsair,EVGA, Silverstone etc.

ASUS Z490 Gaming Socket 1200

i9-10850K @ 5.8Ghz

Corsair H150i Platinum

128GB Corsair Vengeance RGB 3600Mhz

3 x 2TB WD Black NVMe

4GB Samsung Evo 960

Asus STRIX 3090 OC

That is not the way to buy a psu. You should look at reviews or the tier list instead of blindly suggesting Brands. The Gigabyte P-GM for example is a Gold rated unit, and it is terrible.

I mean anything gold rated at those watts will be fine, its only a 3070.

Don't confuse mid level PC's its not the same as high end.

"its only a 3070", get an PSU that is the heart of the system failing and you will have worse than that.

Not about the wattage or the filtering rank (bronze - gold - platinum). But yes they would be fine and doesn't buy an cheap and terrible PSU.

Did you even look at that link ? Sorry but your statement is incorrect. A Gold rated unit does not automatically mean it is a good quality psu.

GIGABYTE P750GM 750W ATX Full Modular Power Supply - Newegg.com terribly built PSU with buttloads of broken units, but it's 80+ gold so it must be good, right?

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

It's only 500$ GPU in a 2k$ build, yeah ... 80+ Plus certification has nothing to do with quality of the unit, there are 80+ Bronze units i'd pick over some 80+ Gold ones, including ones by EVGA and Silverstone.

  • 4 weeks later...

The OP's post was to ask what wattage not what specifically to buy; and ultimately I don't think many units sold by the brands I listed would spike enough to kill the M'fets in those PSU's. I've always bought corsair mainly for one reason - the AXi1200 sitting in my current unit is 7 years old has never let me down and when I ripped it down its filled with anti surge and m'fets
