Hello community members!

I'll give a slight demonstration on what I am talking about... I have a problem, when entering in game.. sometimes the game freezes.. right? Now, when the game freezes, I would want to Alt tab, right? to go to task manager... but when I do that... it does the Alt Tabbing, but shows me a black screen... I mean like I can still see the windows ruler on the bottom, I see the black screen and the TASK Manager on the background.. EVERYTHING IS FINE, but hey.. I can't SEE the task manager.. I can only use my arrows to guess where should I press "Delete"... and it annoys me, really.

What should I do? help :)..

I am using Windows 8 Pro..

btw, I can't do a screenshot :|... cuz it happens from time to time.

So you understand?

1. I launch the game

2. It freezes (RARELY)

3. I want to Alt Tab .. even Alt Ctrl Delete "task manager" etc...

4. I open up Task Manager but I still see a black screen but the Task Manager is running...

5. I need to guess where's the game's .exe to close it and press Delete. Why?...

How can I solve this?

The game still has focus, that is the problem. I know you did Alt+tab you see some Windows element, but it still has focus.

Games are almost direct communication with the hardware thanks to DirectX and OpenGL. The window creation is not the same as a normal application.

On Windows 7, due to the completely different look of Aero Basic and Aero, you could sometimes see this, where the entire OS has Aero, but the game, has Aero Basic, and even then, it's not quite Aero Basic, it has thinner border and thinner caption bar... like something is off. And that is, if you pay close attention to see it when you alt+tab or something.

This is not a Windows 8 problem. This is a Windows in general problem.

That is one of the downside of DirectX/OpenGL, but it is needed to gain maximum performance out of your hardware.

Things to try when it happens: Win+M, Win+D, Alt+Tab back in the game, and back out again.

It already happened to me in WIn7. I think your game didn't crash then.

Make sure you have the latest graphic card drivers. Windows 8 is still new, and it's important to keep them, as well as you entire system, the most up to date as possible.
