Headphones microphpne not detected on Windows (Realtek)

Hi,

I'm currently having a problem with my headphones microphone. Basically my pc reads the pause button on the headphones as if it were the microphone input. I've realized this because when I speak into the microphone no sound gets recorded, while if i press the pause button on my headphones wire a sudden audio spike at maximum volume is recorded. I suspect that is due to the specific pin layout of this headphone model, because when trying another older model it works just fine. (No, the microphone is not broken because it has always worked perfectly with my phone).

For a few days I thought it was an unsolvable issue, until today. I've installed Linux in dual boot and as if by magic the microphone was working!

Hence it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue, but rather a software one. My motherboard is a MSI b550 gaming edge wifi and I have Realtek Audio Console installed.

Could it be a driver issue? Or did I get some settings wrong on Audio console?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
