Hi, i recently swapped my gt 710 to a R7  370, my computer was a prebuilt.

When i swapped it, i noticed cpu temps going very fast up.

In GTA 5, it goes up to 85-87 degrees.

Last night, i wanted to test FiveM. Everything went okay, then i saw the cpu temp: 91 degrees, it never in its life exceeded 86. i shut down fivem, then shut down my pc.

today in class (google meet) i found out something weird. i had 3 tabs open. when i change to this forum, the cpu goes down to 56-65 degrees, and when i change to google meet, it goes up to 81. then i switch back, the temp INSTANTLY goes down. What should i do?

Also i forgot to say it does not really happen in other games, and when i touch my case in the psu area, its pretty warm.

If you think it's due to radiant heat from the GPU you can try a better cooler...or some form of AIO if you can fit it inside a pre-built.  Cheapest first step is to clean the cooler and replace the TIM, as you said you're going to do...  Could also perhaps add chassis fans.  I don't know how your prebuilt is setup, the case it's in, or what you've got in it aside from the CPU and GPU.

maybe a new cooler? i can do it, but i cant trust myself iinstalling a cooler, i feel like im going to mess it up.. but i know how to install a cooler 🙂 @SavageNeo

If you're going to replace the thermal paste as you've mentioned...you're going to install a cooler.  It might be reinstalling the one you've got, but if you've already resolved yourself to do that, why be scared about the prospect of installing a different one?

im always scared of the fact that it might not actually touch the cpu when im installing coolers @PineyCreek

the stock cooler is meh. you should buy a new cooler. Also what is your case?

the screwsof the cooler will make sure that the cooler is tight on the cpu. nothing to worry about
