I'm getting my hands on a R9 380 that works "fine", but turns off under load. The seller tried to mine both RVN and ETC with the card, both failed. The seller had an 605W cooler master PSU from 2011. The seller used the PSU with 270x'es in CrossFire fine. It is a MSI Gaming R9 380 4G model.

My plans was to (after I've inspected the PCB for visual damage/burn marks):

  1.  Fire it up and see if it just was a PSU issue, my RM750x ran a 390 and a 290X fine (I had both lying around and wanted to test it, don't do it, the system ran hotter than the sun and at the same time was louder than a jet engine)
  2.  See if it has a weird BIOS, if it has, flash a normal one
  3.  Apply new thermal paste and clean fans for dust

If none of that works my plan was to bake it in the oven.

Does anyone have any other tips as to what I can do to try to get it fixed?

Tips/info appreciated!
