Task manager says 100% CPU, no programs open

Hi Guys,

I recently have had this issue where my CPU is at max frequency(4.2Ghz @ 1.250v) all the time, due to task manager reporting 100% CPU usage. I have no programs open. Core temp is telling me the load of each CPU is 1-3%, which would be normal, but due to the high clocks, my "idle" temps are in the 60's.

I have already checked for viruses, none.

Programs like skype, chrome and others alternate between 1-50% usage, even while writing this post.

Mind you, the apps that take 50% or more change every couple seconds213ad994895b10592d6398507964ce1b.png. WTF.

Any help would be much appreciated.

7970s are one of the best mining cards actually lol.

But i was more like saying that someone else is mining on your pc without you knowing.

But try what mansoor said, that sounds promising.

Why do you have a 32 bit OS and 16 gb of ram? That makes no sense.

Trust me, its Windows 8.1 64-bit.

And yet you have 32 bit applications all over the place.

Pretty sure that if the program is 32-bit, there is a reason. When there is a 64-bit version, I install that.

Open Chromes task manager and figure out what chrome process is causing the usage spikes. Most likely shockwave player, reinstall or install a newer version of flash and see if that helps.

EDIT: Chrome>options>tools>task manager

well you have open programs, but lol corsair link takes 44% of the cpu load? wth disable it in startup and solve that WMI thing. then select balanced plan in power options

Its not corsair link. It will fluctuate betweeen chrome, corsair, skype and other programs taking 50% or more CPU.

Turns out my PC was set to "High performance". When I set it back to "Balanced" my CPU usage went down to 1% again. Thanks all!
