My Realtek Audio driver "disappears"

Shammikit

Hi, I have been encountering this problem since last week in my HP laptop where if I wake it up from sleep mode it's built in speakers stops working. The speaker icon in windows gets the red cross. clicking on it brings the windows troubleshoot utility which crashes like this:

I went on device manager to see if the Relatek audio device can be found there and it seem to have disappeared

I believe this is some sort of driver related issue and so went on services to restart the Realtek audio service. Doing so didnt change anything.

The issue fixes itself sometimes when I put it to sleep mode and wake it up again. But sometimes it requires a full restart which can be annoying when I have a bunch of stuff open.

If u know anything please do leave a comment. Thanks.

Is it just the driver? Do you have sound when that happens? because this sounds like hardware problem to me. Check if you have a bios update.

Nope. no sound comes out when this happens. My only suspicion is the driver at this point but I could be wrong.

I updated the drivers too and it still happens. Plugging in the headphones to the 3.5mm doesnt work too. Now im wondering if the built in sound card of the laptop has gone bad.
