i have a asus z490 A gaming with 10900k. my issue is whenever i boot up my computer for the first time of that day, it won't connect to the internet. after i do a network restart, it works perfectly fine afterwards. i am directly plugged in with a fairly new Ethernet cable and router, both about a 1 1/2 year old. not a big issue, just annoying that i have to wait 5 minutes to boot everytime... help! and thank you

Sounds like a setting or scripting thing to me.  Probably arrangable in windows settings.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I suspect this qualifies as a windows weirdness and is below even forum stuff.  It’s the kind of thing that just pops up.  I’m still not as familiar with win10 as would make me useful with it but I suspect simply googling the problem will give you 10 or more similar answers.  Many of them will be “the best way to fix it is to buy my product” which I suspect is pure hogwash, but a lot of them will have the actual answer jumbled together with garbage stuff.  Many will attempt to obfusticate it by using very complicated ways to do a simple thing, but reading several of them should give you enough of a base to figure out the right way.

Download the latest motherboard drivers, including those for the NIC, directly from Asus. Uninstall the previous drivers (even if they were the latest) and reinstall.

Is there any other device between the desktop and the router through which the ethernet goes? Have you tried using a different port on the router? What is the make/model of the router?

so i just tried using a different port on my router... it looks like that fixed the problem... the first thing that i did to try and fix this problem was to update drivers. it is definitely a first good step to check. but never thought about the port of the router. my router is a asus RT-AC1200g
