Help, big problem with starting up :(

Basically, i have been having this problem for over a couple of weeks now. Im going to flip out if i dont fix this. Im not even sure what the problem is anymore. I THOUGHT, it was the RAM. But i dont even know. I have been running my computer fine for a couple of days, then the problem happend again. Is it because i was running 4gb instead of 8? Or maybe because i only had 1 stick of RAM in? PLEASE help.

*Update: upon startup i received a windows error code. 0x00000e9 and unexpected I/o error has occurred.

ok first if you think is the ram you should run a memtest

then check the hdd integirty using hd tune

 

try defraging the hdd

 

having a single 4 gb stick wont cause those kind of issues only if the stick is failing and if it is a bsod will pop up i had dying ram on a laptop

 

if you can diagnose you might have issues with the os you might wanna reinstall windows

If your PC was running fine for a while using only 1 stick of memory, is likely that the module you added later is defective, or is not making a good contact in the socket.

That error happens when there is a problem with the hard drive.

I never added a second module to my pc. Is it possible that my RAM modules just became corrupted for some reason?

Did you move them at all?  could be just not making good contact.

Yes, i switched it around in every order possible.
