What it means the BIOS that is default on the mobo you want, may not be up to date enough to work out of the box with your CPU, and the system won't boot.

Ok, but what can I do about it?

Well, that is an issue. *some* motherboards....you'll have to read the manual to find out if yours is one of them, will allow you to update the BIOS without having a CPU installed. If your mobo DOES NOT allow this, then you';ll have to buiy the cheapest CPU the mobo will support, update the BIOS, then put in your newer CPU, and sell the old one

Is it worth doing or should I change MoBo instead

All B550s will say that, just make sure to get one that allows you to update the BIOS without a processor

That's a judgement call. That's a nice board (IMO)  but the easy decider, is to read the mobo manual on-line, and see if you can update the BIOS without installing a CPU

If the mobo maker says you are good to go, then you are good to go. PCPartpicker can't possibly be 100% accurate for everything, which is why they give you a warning.

Well, hang on a minute...

The mobo manual says you need BIOS revision F10 to see that CPU.

https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/B550M-AORUS-PRO-rev-10/support#support-cpu

which was released:

https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/B550M-AORUS-PRO-rev-10/support#support-dl-bios

On Sept 2020. So assuming the mobo BIOSD was updated before it left the factory, then you are good to go

but if it's an older board that's been in stock for a bit, it may have an earlier BIOS, in which case it will not POST.

Here is the mobo manul (warning: PDF file)

https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_b550m-aorus-pro_e.pdf

You'll need to read through it and see what it says about BIOS updated without a CPU

The Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro motherboard has Q-Flash Plus. This allows bios updating without a cpu installed.

That greatly solves the potential problem, thanks for letting everyone know 🙂

To add to that, if you do have to use the Q Flash Plus, @Redpanda4376 here's a really good video. Do note that he doesn't have the CPU in the board when he updates bios. Only the 24 pin connector is plugged in. No RAM, no SSD, nothing else.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.
