Bought a 10 bit hdr display and it only outputs 8 bit sdr

So I bought a samsung u28r552, and as the tittle says, I can only use sdr and 8bit...

Is there any setting on windows to enable 10bit?

I saw the enable hdr option, but the image turns out to be very low contrast and very bright. 

I don't belive the cable it came with isn't hdmi 2.0... 

Should I buy a new hdmi cable or there is no need for such thing?

I'm not too sure HDMI 2.0 can  handle 10-bit UHD HDR.

Maybe try DP cable?

Once you've enabled HDR in Windows a new option appears, it says something like "Adjust Windows HDR Brightness Settings". If you click that you can adjust the brightness and contrast between SDR & HDR.

 

If the HDR option is showing in Windows then HDR is working, if the cable was unsupported that option wouldn't be there at all.
