Tried and tested - 5800x ram

casper89

In my current system I have a set of corsair Vengeance Pro Rgb 2x8GB  rated for 3600mhz with docp , cl18 . They seem to be the causing issues and stuttering when ran at said frequency.  Can anyone recommend me a good kit for 16gb of ram that would work better ?

What is the highest frequeuncy the Vengence pro RGB run at?

If it is above 3000 mhz, it’s probably not worth getting a new kit.

3200mhz somehow stable and without major dips . Anything more than that would make the system run as garbage . Frame drops down to below 20 and frametimes up to 400 ms

So 3600 C18 is not stable, what about 3200 C16? Sounds like a bad bin to me.

ram in slots 2 and 4?

how are you running them at 3600? enabling xmp or just manually changing the frequency?

I'm running G-skill Flare X AMD Series16GB 3200MHz CL14 with my 5800X, they work beautifully OC'd to 3600 CL16 @1,38V.

I have also used them with the 1700X and the 3700X and has run completly stable with both. althou not OC'd with the 1700X.

But I think they are out of production now

You can still find them on stock, but most of the DNA of what makes Flare X ticked moved to TridentZ Neo as far as i know.

Slots 2 and 4 . Both xmp and manual setting the speed gives bad results . Dram calculator won't even have the die listed

Hmmm . I tried both docp and manually setting the times and clocks for ram but at a voltage of 1.35 . Would increasing the voltage make them more stable? 🤔

It shouldn't be necessary unless you're trying to overclock it, but you cant try increasing it a bit, I would'nt go any furter than 1,4V.

Ryzen i known to be picky on the RAM support, its better on the later gens, but there still might be som sets that are not optimal.

You should check the memory support list for your motherboard if you can find your exact set, if not it may be best to get another set

The kit I have seems to be on the qvl for my motherboard

Thank you . Both 3700x and 5800x are performing poorly with the kit I'm using at the moment

I did not try to set the timings manually and at this moment just gave up on them . From all I've seen about them they are garbage ... just waiting for payday and suggestions to replace them with and see if that improves it

have you tried increasing soc voltage a bit? if that doesn't help, then it's definitely the ram that is the problem.

I did not . Ran default settings . I have a cooler coming in today and plan to try a few things people suggested and see if there's any improvement. If there isn't I'll just buy a different ram kit

Still poor performance from time to time with frame dips and frametime a lot higher than usual . When I open icue shows the ram with a red triangle on them and lighting effect freezes too . Then it takes a couple of reboots to get it working again . Amazon suggested I try an older version of icue and it's still the same .
