Hp laptop boot looping

Hi there !

 

I recently got a kinda old hp laptop (hp 11-n000nf) which was perfectly working... Until I opened it.

 

I wanted to clean the dust off from the motherboard, and see what is inside of this thing, as it was password locked.

 

So, I closed it back after verifying that everything was plugged correctly, and here is where the problem begins :

the laptop is kind of "boot looping"

when I press power, everything looks normal (power button lighted up, fan spinning) for about 5 secs until the laptop restarts while making a "click"...

I tried booting it without the battery/hard drive/ram... And the only configuration that was making something different was without the ram stick (system staying on, fan spinning 10 secs then stops and caps lock key blinking 3 times, Which is a ram issue according to HP's website)

 

So I think that the board itself is ok, but the ram stick might be dead.

 

Should I try ordering a new one to see if it works ?

I mean, if the RAM is the problem, maybe? Where abouts are you located, I have an older HP with DDR3 that the HDD totally died on, if you are in the US, I might be able to supply you with an HP OEM 4GB 8GB or both.

Thx for the proposal, but I live inEurope so it might be a little hard...

But regular crucial memory might work in this laptop, no ?

UPDATE :

Got a new Crucial 8go stick yesterday, and the laptop works just fine !

Guess the old stick was ready to die... 

Just gonna install a SSD and a fresh copy of windows and all done !
