Hi my 1080 gfx card has stared to mis behave, it starts off as normal, but as the workload increases eg I start a game the fans run faster, all normal. But they ramp up to full speed and will not slow until reboot. I have tried fan control software, flashing the bios, reseating the fan cables, nothing works.... Help

Welcome to the forum!

What kind of temps are you dealing with here?

You say the fans will not ramp down untill reboot, can you check the temps after the fans go full speed?

To me this sounds like a thermal paste issue.

it did not get that hot 75/80 under full load, but when i closed the game and let it idle for a while it went down to 30 or below with the fans at full speed still, i tried gpuz to see what was happening and fan peed control software but the fan speeds were not recorded correctly, 0 when it was full speed etc. the speeds were correct untill it hit 60 degrees or so but then went haywire.

i tried different fan settings and graphs but nothing worked

annoying thing is the card still works fine except for the fans

Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) if you haven't already and try some older drivers.

You say you flashed the bios (i assume on the gpu), try also resetting your motherboard bios.
If possible try the card in another pc.

Also can you confirm that all the fans go full speed and not just one? if it's just one fan then you'll need a replacement, and also check if the little gpu fan cables are seated properly in the plastic connector.

If it comes down to it you can always remove the fans and shroud and run some 120mm fans on it.
