I'm looking at getting the Keychron K2, just wondering if I can ever change the keycaps on a non-hot swappable keyboard?

Keycaps are swappable, just not the switches without desoldering.

Yes, the keycaps may be swapped for another set.

 

If you need keycaps with legends, however, keep in mind the right-side modifier keys of the bottom row are 1U (in orange), and the Right Shift seems to be 1.75U (in purple)? Most 104/108-key keycap sets don't come with 1.75U shifts and are equipped with 1.25U bottom row modifier keycaps.

Any reason on why ya dont wanna pay the 10$ premium for the hotswappable version, besides that its rarer than hen's teeth?

• GMK Keycap Sets (KBDfans): A number of GMK keycap sets include a 1.75U Right Shift plus 1U bottom row modifiers.
• NPKC DSA 9009 Keycaps: 99 Keys and 125 Keys variants should fit the Keychron K2 (Image w/KBD75).
• WINMIX SA 9009 Keycaps: Keycap set with 174 keys, should fit the Keychron K2 (Image w/KBD75).
• Domikey Keycap Sets (KPrepublic): A number of Domikey keycap sets include a 1.75U Right Shift plus 1U bottom row modifiers under the "Mod Plus" selection.
• 145-Key Keycap Sets (KPrepublic): A number of 145-key keycap sets include a 1.75U Right Shift plus 1U bottom row modifiers under the "All-in-One 145 Keys" selection.
  • "For XD64" selection includes a 1.75U Right Shift plus 1U bottom row modifiers as well, but omits keycaps for Keychron K2's topmost row.

Note that the list above is more "what-I-could-find-from-a-quick-search" rather than "I-would-recommend-this." Plus, legends may not match the keys' functions for those along the topmost row (F1 - F12 + the other 3).
