I've been playing around with the idea of a HTPC for a while and I usually buy my stuff component by component but if the price is right I might just save up for the build and buy it all in one glorious package.  ^_^

Core Components:

CPU: AMD A6 6400k (to be undervolted) - $69

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM - $80

PSU: Seasonic Platinum 400W Modular PSU Fanless $119

RAM: Team Elite 4GB - $40

SSD: Mushkin Chronos 60GB SSD - $50

Drive: Asus Bluray Drive - $58

Case: Lian Li-C50B case or Fractal Mini (more space for upgrades, guys willing to trade this) $100-130

OS: Windows 8.1 - $100

Cooling: Scythe SCBSK-2100 CPU Cooler

Total Cost: $626

Critiques, suggestions, etc. are welcome. Key importance to this machine is that it's fast, totally silent and can play raw Bluray rips off a Xeon server to build in the future.

You could go for a PSU with less wattage 400 watts is bit overkill.

Do you think I should? I was thinking about adding a 7790 in the future but now I don't see much of a point because I don't plan on gaming on it. I did want something fanless, and preferable modular to keep the heat down although the mini is a great cool case.

You could probably get away with a 350 watt but fanless is nice so I guess it doesn't really matter.

It's still very much overkill.

Remove fan from 212 Evo--run it passively. Move rear fan to bottom for intake. Use Arctic F12 PWM for rear exhuast.
