For the 11600k, you need a decent cooler

I'm not too familiar with cooler to make a recommendation though, I just know the good premium ones like dark rock pro 4 and nh-d15

What games, what display, what graphics card.

If it's your typical stuff and 144hz display and anything RTX 3080 or below, the 11400F with a B560 will do.

seems like the recommendation I edited into my other post fits your needs the most.

Your aim is a tall order

It performs about the same as all the other competing cpus when you're GPU bound, and even if you play competitive shooters like valorant the fps differences are meaningless performance (i.e. all above 300-400fps anyway).

But if you're worried about that I'd say get a 5900x. Then you'd have plenty of cores and also have mostly the best gaming experience.

But for the here and now, with an RX 470 that you currently have (or even up to say an RTX 3080 or lower)...and with a 144hz display, you won't really be able to tell the difference between the $178 i5-11400f and a $750 Ryzen 9 5950x.

what are gear 1,2,100% ?

It's memory speed/bus coupling - you can adjust it to be 1 in bios.

If you're using 3600 or lower, it should be fine at gear 1.

But I don't have personal experience with 11th gen, just 8, 9, 10. They're all gear 1 so they don't even have the option.

11th gen is different.

No, this isn't true.

But AMD does it better.

Right now, Intel is the "less expensive but preforms just as good at gaming" king.
