New CPU or GPU?

Budget (including currency): I'd like to stay under $500

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: VR games, Battlefront 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, Rainbow Six Siege, Rocket League, Etc. 

 

So I've had my build for about 4 years now I'd say, and my birthday is upcoming next month. I'd like to ask for an upgraded CPU or GPU, however, I don't know which to ask for, and what type to go for. Currently I've got an i5-7600k CPU, and a Geforce 1050Ti Graphics card, along with 8GB of ram. I've got a Vive Cosmos VR headset that tends to be laggy in most games I play, and it would be great to be able to stop that lag, although majority of my time I spend on Battlefront or Red Dead. If someone could give any recommendation on what I should go for that'd be very much appreciated, Thanks.

whichever is being maxed out based on your usages , check them
