11700K upgrade?

  1. 1. With all the talk about intel short changing everyone Im looking at an upgrade from a 9700k and looking at the 11700k. Not sure if it would be worth it.  The rig is mostly for gaming with some streaming. It would only be CPU and MoBo swap I would be keeping everything else. What say the group? go or no go?

It's almost the same as going to a 9900K, which would not require mobo swap. How much would that cost you?

 

Also, don't upgrade if your rig meets your standards. These are expensive components after all.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

Personally I'd say no, the 9700K is still a great cpu and the 11700k is about the same as the 9900k which isnt a giant upgrade from the 9700k as above said

the only scenario i'd consider this incremental upgrade is with a 3090/6900xt (assuming ur gaming), even then the 11700k isnt even the best cpu for gaming, the 5900x and 5950x is. There are also reports of some11700k that won't overclock very well (the 11900k is heavily binned)
