Hey everyone! I recently picked up a Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 ST3000DM001 3TB 7200 RPM hard drive for the intent of recording to it. I used Dxtory 2.0.122 and BF4 to test out the new hard drive and while I was receiving a constant 60FPS in game, the recording wasn't. It seems I was getting 15FPS max in the recording and an average of about 4-5FPS. I immediately assumed it was the write speed of the hard drive and testing recording to a different hard drive as well as the results from a HD Tune write test seemed to prove this theory.

Here are my results from the HD Tune test:

It seems to have a high write speed for a short time, and then suddenly drop to an extremely low write speed for a few seconds and continues doing that. The read speed is fine, it's just the write speed. I'm not exactly "savvy" with hard drives so I don't really know a way to even go about fixing this and haven't seemed to find a fix by the normal Google searches. So hoping you guys can help me out :D

I had a similar problem with an old 500Gb Seagate Drive, problem was that the "head" thingy that reads & writes on the plate parked consistently even if it was writing, resulted in many BSOD's, copy errors & file corruptions.

Question :: Does your hard drive make clicking noises ? A sudden click from time to time ? If it does so, i'd advice you to RMA it as it could be defective.

Also, it could be a problem with the power cable, the Sata cable, your motherboard's drivers ...

Doesn't make any noises at all, it's pretty silent. I'll look into the power cable, SATA cable, and driver's.

Disable any power restrictions in your OS (for the drive and OS) if you want better performance, sure you'll use more energy but hey can't have it all.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.
