VRAM on graphics cards!

Go to solution Solved by Cacao,

Well getting 2 780tis won't make you have 6gb of VRAM, so that wouldn't make much sense if you need the 6gb. I guess the regular titan would be an ok option, but waiting for titan black to come back in stock would probably be worth it since they're the same price but the black edition is more powerful.

Alright, as the title explains I'm going for the high-end graphics card for gaming, video editing, and 3d modeling but I'll be using 4k textures and resolutions.

GTX 780 ti is an amazing card but only has 3 gb of VRAM and that kind of worries me.

GTX TITAN BLACK is out but is out of stock but has a whopping 6gb....

R9 290x has 4gb, but runs WAY too loud and hot and AMD is not really known for video editing...

Should I wait for the titan to restock or should I just get two GTX 780 ti's?

P.S. GTX TITAN Z is out of the question, and I personally think its a bit weird for 3000$

(GTX TITAN BLACK=1000$ so 1000+1000=2000$? No, to Nvidia = 3000)

The r9 290x is loud IF you get the reference cooler but if you get the aftermarket cooler then it will be cooler and a lot quieter as well

IF you can wait just a little while longer, EVGA is releasing a stock cooler and their ACX cooler version of the 780 (not ti) with 6GB vram. The price should be around 550 or so from what I've heard.

Here's EVGA's post about it (it's talking about upgrading, but it will also be able to be purchased without an upgrade program.)

The 780 is plenty fast for gaming, I have no experience with editing, but I cant imagine it is much slower than the 780ti. Just a heads up to maybe save you like 500 dollars :)
