Hi everyone, I had a question that i hope anyone can answer. As far as i know, Surround sound headsets work in 360 Degrees. they are amazing, I love em. But I’ve always known that its sounds come in a flat direction. Meaning sound can come in any direction  as in Front, Back, Left, Right and everything in between.to the listener. But i never really hear something coming from "up-top". Meaning the direction of the sound came from a 240 Degree angle or something like that. For instance, if a player in front of you is shooting, from above. You'd hear it from the "Front" but if you ran under him, at one point the sound will start generating from behind. But rarely as it's "above".

Does this already exist? Am I Crazy to think that surround sound isn’t spherical? I don’t feel like it is.

Will there be a stronger push to enhance directional sound technology because the possibility of VR gaining mainstream popularity?

What do you guys think?

If you've used a VR headset with surround sound, has it changed in any way? can you hear things in a spherical direction?
