AMD MXM GPU

Hello,

I am looking to put an AMD GPU in a Dell Precision M6700 or Zbook 17 G2 or similar. All these PCs have MXM 3.0 Type B. I am looking for 4GB GPU BY AMD THAT IS NOT FIREPRO. Preferably along the lines of R9 M395X/M295X or M390X. I am having a really hard time finding these in the USA. Any help or links would appreciated! Thanks in advance!

P.S a 4GB 980M or RX 480M would also work.

Volvo240.

I've seen only two listings on Ebay for a Radeon RX480 mobile a few months ago, never have seen a newer AMD MXM GPu than the HD8970 since though

Is MXM still being used in High End Laptops? My T430 doesn't have a dGPU at all. Just iGPU.

I actually have an RX 480 MXM card and funny enough I used it in my Precision M6700 but had a load of problems with it. Idk if it was just my card or what but it would crash constantly. Eventually I ended up bricking the card trying to fix the issues with other vBIOS'

Clevo is the only one I know of that still uses MXM but it's also their weird larger form factor with external power that still happens to use an MXM slot.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, I did TONS of shit to my M6700, that this was amazing.

MXM M290Xs are ~ $170 on Ebay and should work fine in an M6700 as well (probably need the AMD heatsink though).
They are a little slower than the cards you mentioned but are pretty cheap.

You could also probably use a WX7100 (I know it's a Radeon Pro card, but it's basically an RX 580 8GB) (they are ~$380) but it will only work with the eDP screen on the M6700.

why no dark mode?

Hi! Sorry for posting on an "old" post, but do you know if the RX 480 8Gb mxm work on M6700's LVDS display, like GTX 980m do?

I believe the RX480 MXM only works with the eDP display in the M6700. Didn't test it though, mine had an eDP display already.

I see, I have read that it should work with optimus, but I'm unsure:

What do you think? Also, any modified vbios recommended?
