New build - booting issue - RAM

Go to solution Solved by Niss1,

Hi guys, and thanks for the replies. I figured it out last night, and the problem was that XMP was enabled for one of the sticks and not the other.

How that could happened, since both sticks went out of the packaging and into the computer at the same time, I don't know.

So with one stick inserted, I disabled the XMP and decided to insert the other one as a last ditch effort. You got to try everything, right?

And then the computer booted up normally. I also did a memtest which didn't identify any problems with the sticks.

I enabled XMP again, and everything works like it should.

So problem solved, and I learned something new, from a problem I haven't experienced before. :)

Hi,

I've just built myself a new pc and having an issue with booting and the RAM I bought..

Motherboard: MPG Z590 Gaming Carbon Wifi (Updated to latest stabile BIOS)

RAM: HyperX Predator DDR4 RGB (2x16GB)

The RAM is plugged into the correct slots, DIMMA2 and DIMMB2.

When I boot with both sticks inserted the EZ Debug LED will give the code 55; "Memory not installed", and the screen is all black.

If I remove the stick from the DIMMB2 slot, it will boot normally.

If I take the memory stick I removed from the DIMMB2 slot and insert it into the DIMMA2 slot, it also boots normally.

If I test with two other memory sticks I have laying around; Corsair Vengeance LED DDR4 3200Mhz (2x8GB)  in slot DIMMA2 and DIMMB2 it also boots normally.

Anyone knows what this problem might be?

I like the bad ram thing,  if it’s a major pita to change out the kit it might be worth doing some memory testing.  I’m wondering about timing profiles.  They could possibly just be messed up.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
