Brithness problems

Hi, i've just reinstalled windows with a clean installation and everytime i got into the windows settings my brithness shoots up and i can't fix it, there's no brithness slider in the settings and i can't seem to adjust it how to fix?

I am going to guess this is a laptop. Make sure you installed all drivers.

i5 9600k, rtx 2070 super, z390-a msi motherboard, windows 10 pro, i haven't activated windows yet could that be the problem?

I'm not sure about the difference between the 2, my screen fully brithtens when i open options and go on system, how can i tell the difference between backlight and gamma?

The backlight is the physical light in your monitor, the monitor emits more light. Gamma/contrast is like if you brightened an image in photoshop, the image looks more white but isn't physically emitting more light.

 

Turning up the backlight is like turning up a lamp brightness.

 

Turning up gamma/contrast is like putting a white tinted clear plastic sheet in front of your face to make everything seem brighter.

I know that color mode can overly brighten the screen in Radeon settings, maybe it's the same for Nvidia settings. Do you have the Nvidia control panel installed?

 

You can use this to fine tune your monitor settings once you solve the brightness issue, if you'd like.

Sorry for responding so late, yes i installed the nvidia control panel, as i said i just reinstalled windows and this is the first time it's happened ever, still having this issue everytime i open windows settings / app store

when i reinstalled windows all i did was disable windows automatic updates, install nvidia control panel and a couple of programs and remove xbox game bar, that's all i did to this pc yet

Edit: also updated the network drivers
