so last year i started my upgrade of my old desktop knowing new 3000 series gpus was coming out. so i upgraded cpu to a 10850k, motherboard is asus tuf z490 plus wifi, ram is 2x16 gb 3200mhz corsair vengeance lpx, power supply is corsair hx 850i, keyboard i went to a corsair k95 platnium rgb, mouse i went with a corsair dark core se pro, i also got a corsair mm1000 mouse pad. case is a phanteks p600s i have 6 noctua nf-a14 chromax black fans and a noctua nh-d15 chromax black cpu cooler, i still have a old samsung c32f391fw 32" 1080p 60hz monitor, i also have a corsair commander pro fan controller. not interested in discussing why i should have chosen other parts. im interested in discussing if i should go from my gtx680 which is 9 years old. and upgrade to a 1660super or something similar value $350 canadian i wanna get a samsung oddssey g5 but not sure if a 1660 super will be able to handle 1440p and 144 hz. the gtx680 is fine for the games i play at 1080p but i dont wanna keep waiting for a mystery gpu which could take ages for a 3070 or a 3080.  i play cod mw, conan exiles, valheim, elder scrolls,

I would pull the trigger on the monitor of your choice because that's something you actually want. I wouldn't settle for anything less that I wanted, provided I could afford it.

and i guess run the monitor at lower settings that the gtx680 could do which would be the same specs as im running now

For monitors i generally buy not what my pc can handle but rather what I want to be playing on and then upgrade my build accordingly even if I can't do so right away. The 1660 super probably won't push 1440p very well in demanding titles but for some easier to run games it should be fine. As for the price well the gpu market is sorta a mess right now so you are kinda stuck with what it available. I Personally would wait it out of my current gpu was good enough to get me by but if not then I guess I would buy what I could get my hands on.

thats the question, in the end i want a 3070 and a samsung oddssey g5 since i cant buy a 3070 right now should i still buy a samsung oddssey g5 which my current gpu cant handle just to have it. second should i try a 1660super with a g5 monitor to see if it could handle 1440p in the games i play

When I got my Predator X34P I had a GTX 1080. It wasn't exactly the best experience, but that way I was guaranteed to see any improvements I were to make on my computer later on. Also, if you can get the 1660 Super to try it and return if it doesn't work as expected, than why the heck not do it?
