Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: A minecraft server thats going to host 20+ players, on 24/7. Server will use multiverse so it will have survival, spawn etc.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):  Don't currently have any parts, everything else you need to know should be listed above :)

Consider using this money to get a server hosting instead. Have a look at indie services by the likes of Dashflo, Shockbyte, or the bigger stuff like MCProHosting.

rent a freaking VPS..

 

you DO NOT want to host anything that is open to the public from your home.

the open ports are the least of your worries. there's the potential of denial of service attacks, the amount of bandwidth used by a big server, the fact your ISP probably has a clause that doesnt allow hosting unless on a special plan (and they WILL cut your internet off), backup management, uptime guarantees, etc.
