Upgrading PSU

TechTippee

Hello TechTippers,

I'm looking to do a bit of overclocking on my system (R5 3600 + RX 5600 XT), and this 550W PSU just isn't big enough to get it done. I'm looking to bump up to an 850w+ power supply, as I figure it will last me for many years (and at least one upgrade). Any recommendations? I'm looking to spend a maximum of $500.

Full parts list here.

This config will consume just about 350-400W at peak, why did you end up with this conclusion ?

As per the parts list above, it is a Cooler Master MWE Gold (550W, 80+ Gold).

That's what I calculated before I built this rig, but the attempts I have made at overclocking the GPU have resulted in black screens. Advice I've gotten elsewhere says that this PSU is indeed enough to run the system at stock (which it does flawlessly), but the card is going to need more juice to sustain an OC.

If this is less an issue with power supplied being insufficient and more with another component being faulty after all, I may need to move over to Troubleshooting. But again, everything works fine at stock.

Which means that the GPU is unstable, nothing to do with the PSU. How exactly did you try to OC it ?

Nowhere near 400W you have with this PSU minus power draw of the CPU and other components but the GPU.

Regardless, if you really want to buy a new PSU, look at these :
