Samsung S24D340 monitor won't turn on

Hi fellas, my monitor won't turn on.

I have an older Samsung S24D340 (one of the ones with the shitty touch buttons) used as a secondary monitor. It has been working fine without any problems or weird behaviour, even the buttons worked fine when I last used them, which was around a month ago. I usually leave it on when I power off my PC, as it goes on standby and turns the panel off and turns back on when I power on my PC. But last night I unplugged the powerstrip it's plugged into whilst the monitor was on standby so the monitor turned off and today it won't turn on.

I've tried everything short off opening it up as I suspect the touch sensitive buttons are at fault? I do usually have a piece of tape over the power button/LED (which I have now removed) so that could be an issue, even though that has never turned off the monitor by accident.

Here's what I've tried:

  • Touching the power button in various different ways ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
  • Unplugging and plugging back in the power cord
  • Unplugging and plugging back in the HDMI
  • Unplugging both the HDMI and power cord and plugging in the power cord and HDMI (in all orders of doing so)
  • Restarting the PC

Anything else I could possibly try before opening it up?

Stupid idea but can you use a stylus that you would find on the end of a ink pen?

I could swear I answered, but I guess I didn't press submit, my bad

Unfortunately, I don't have access to one as I find them useless and thus throw them out immediately.

I finally have a day off tomorrow so I'll try opening it and seeing if it's the monitor itself that has died or just the buttons and throw an update in the post incase someone stumbles on this in the future.
