Mining on lap top?

I know a lap top is not ideal for mining on considering the video card is not regular video card and the laptops have terrible airflow. I saw a laptop listing with a GTX 1660ti and wondered how it would mine since it was actually less than the cost of prebuilt desktop. It's not likely I would buy it for only for mining, but thought maybe I could get back some of the money if I bought it.

It probably wouldn't be great if that one post by MSI is anything to go by. For a 3080 at least, the difference is about 55% slower on the laptop varient compared to the desktop one.

The same may not be true with lower end laptop gpus because the power requirements are lower. I just would do some research and temper your expectations.

It would be no where near as good.

 

For profiting, you would be better off with a scalped desktop 1660ti for price payed per mh.

There are already reports of laptops that ran fine popping its VRAM power delivery minutes after the start of mining, so don't even bother trying.
