Hello!

The story goes a little something like this

MacBook Pro 15 2017 tells me to update to macOS Mojave 10.14.6, I do so and leave the computer alone to update.

Come back a while later and the screen is off and I couldn't wake it at all, nothing worked. So I turn it off using the power button and try to restart.

Only the fan starts, nothing else at all, no keyborad, toucbar or screen.

What happened and more importantly, how do I solve it? If possible I'd like to avoid having to take it to a repairshop.

TIA!!

Why you have 2017 macbook not with Mojave is the first question? Disconnect power adaptor hold power button for at least 1 min. Try to boot from recovery partion. or do this, follow Intel processor:

It's my girlfriends MacBook, so can't really answer the first question. I'll try the other one tho! Can't get into recoverymode at all

Girls and their outdated macbooks! 😄 Too bad. Try this:

Reset SMC, NVRAM

  1. Turn off the Mac
  2. Disconnect the Power cable
  3. Hold down Shift + Control + Option and Power button at the same time for 12 seconds
  4. Release all keys at the same time, then reconnect the Power cable and turn the Mac back on again
  5. Next, reboot the Mac again and this time hold down Command+Option+P+R keys concurrently for about 20 seconds, this resets the NVRAM
