eGPU bandwith

Hi!

I am thinking about connecting an eGPU through my PCIe networking card (which is a gen 1) but i have found not much information about connecting a GPU with higher bandwith than gen 1 PCIe, and was wondering if  this badly affects the output (i found a forum in wich people said there was no big difference but i doubt that).

Hoping someone can give me this info 🙂
